Miami-Dade deputies responded to reports of shots fired at Miami International Airport around 5 p.m. Wednesday and took one person into custody.
Authorities said there was no longer a threat to the public, but had not released details about the detained person, whether any shots were actually fired, or what caused the disruption.
Airport officials said the departure-level roadway and the terminal area from doors 12 to 17 were temporarily closed during the investigation. All vehicle traffic was being diverted to the arrivals level, and travelers were advised to allow extra time because of delays.
