Devorise Carl Johnson faces first-degree murder and other charges in connection with the abduction and fatal shooting of 22-year-old Eddrick Malik Bethune, according to a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office arrest report.
What Authorities Allege
Johnson and four other individuals allegedly posed as police officers to kidnap Bethune from an apartment complex in North Miami on Oct. 3–4. Bethune was subsequently shot and killed in southwest Miami-Dade County.
Arrest Details
Johnson was taken into custody after being discharged from a hospital where he had been receiving treatment for gunshot wounds. The arrest report does not identify the four other individuals allegedly involved or indicate whether any of them have been arrested.
