Sergio Ruiz-Osorio has been arrested in connection with a cockfighting investigation at a property in Horse Country, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
Charges and Investigation
Ruiz-Osorio faces charges of animal cruelty and animal fighting, baiting or breeding. He is the second person arrested in the case, following the earlier arrest of Carlos Rafael Lezcano.
The investigation was initiated after FBI agents executed a search warrant at the property on Saturday. According to a sheriff’s office report, investigators found several thousand game fowl roosters on the premises.
The investigation involves the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the FBI, and Miami-Dade Animal Services.
