Authorities were investigating reports of possible gunshots Wednesday afternoon in areas near Miami International Airport.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office confirmed that at least one person was in custody, but authorities had not released the person’s identity. The airport’s departures level between gates 12 and 17 was closed, along with the outer access lanes leading to that level, because of the police response.
Authorities said all MIA passengers and employees were safe and that no injuries had been reported. Reports that people heard gunshots near the airport had not been confirmed.
