Federal Lawsuit Challenges ICE Detention Practices at Miramar Facility

Two civil rights groups filed a federal class action lawsuit against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, alleging people have been held for days at its Miramar Field Office since October 2025. The complaint says the holds violate ICE policy, which limits detention at the site to 12 hours.

The Southern Poverty Law Center and Americans for Immigrant Justice allege the facility, intended for check-ins and processing, is being used for extended detention.
