Miami Beach’s Land Use and Sustainability Committee is set to discuss Thursday a proposal tied to Ken Griffin’s planned marina at 120 MacArthur Causeway on Terminal Island.
The proposal would change zoning rules to allow a private helipad as an accessory use in the industrial district. The helipad was proposed after the original marina plan was approved.
The Herald reported that leaders of eight nearby condominium buildings asked city officials to reject the plan, citing concerns about helicopter noise and disruption. The marina site is next to the U.S. Coast Guard Station and has already been approved for a private marina with support facilities.
