Two Palm Beach County Haitian organizations sued Rockstar Games and other companies after the 2002 release of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City over game dialogue referring to Haitians.
The Haitian American Coalition of Palm Beach County and the Haitian American Coalition for Civil Rights named Rockstar Games, parent company Take-Two Interactive, Wal-Mart, Sony and Microsoft as defendants. The groups sought to have the game removed from store shelves or, alternatively, to require warning labels on the packaging.
The outlet reported the case was later transferred to federal court and eventually closed after Rockstar agreed to change the dialogue to remove references to Haitians.
